Privacy Policy
This page explains what howshouldivote.cymru does with your data. The short version: we collect the minimum we need to understand how views vary across Wales, and we don't try to identify you.
What we do not collect
- Your name, email address or any other contact details.
- Your IP address. We do not log or forward IPs to any third party.
- Your full browser user-agent string or precise screen dimensions.
- Cookies. We use
localStorageonly, for two things: your language preference and your analytics consent choice. Both are local to your device. - Tracking pixels, advertising tags or third-party analytics (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, etc.).
What we do collect (only if you tap "Accept")
- Your 20 quiz answers (−2 to +2) and the importance rating (1–5) you set for each of the six topic categories.
- Your computed party match scores.
- Your age, if you chose to enter one (optional).
- Your Senedd constituency, if you chose to select one (optional).
- A coarse device-type label: mobile, tablet or desktop.
- A coarse screen-size bucket (xs / sm / md / lg / xl).
- A coarse platform hint (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux or "other") — no browser versions or fingerprint data.
- A random session ID generated in-browser for the duration of your visit.
- The page language you used (English or Welsh).
- An ISO timestamp.
What happens to the data
Quiz data is sent to a Google Apps Script webhook connected to a private Google Sheet owned by the site operator (Benjamin Southgate). It is used only to produce aggregate statistics — for example, "users in Caerdydd Penarth matched Labour most often" — and is not shared with political parties, advertisers, the Welsh Government or any other third party.
Legal basis
Processing is based on your explicit consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can decline at any time by tapping "Decline" on the consent banner, or by clearing your site data in your browser. Declining does not affect your ability to take the quiz — the quiz runs entirely in your browser.
Your rights
Because we don't collect anything that identifies you personally, we can't look up, export or delete individual records on your behalf. You can, however, stop future data being sent by declining consent. If you have any concerns, contact the site operator at the email in the footer of this page, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Retention
Aggregate analytics are retained indefinitely for historical comparison. Individual records (which, again, do not identify you) may be retained for up to 12 months before aggregation and deletion of the raw row.
Changes
If we change what we collect we'll update this page and the version number at the top. Material changes will require you to re-accept consent.

Beth sy'n digwydd i'r data
Mae data cwis yn cael ei anfon at webhook Google Apps Script sydd wedi'i gysylltu â Google Sheet preifat sy'n perthyn i weithredwr y safle (Benjamin Southgate). Fe'i defnyddir yn unig i gynhyrchu ystadegau cyfun — er enghraifft, "roedd defnyddwyr yng Nghaerdydd Penarth yn cyfateb â Llafur fwyaf aml" — ac nid yw'n cael ei rannu gyda phleidiau gwleidyddol, hysbysebwyr, Llywodraeth Cymru nac unrhyw drydydd parti arall.

Eich hawliau
Oherwydd nad ydym yn casglu unrhyw beth sy'n eich adnabod yn bersonol, ni allwn chwilio, allforio na dileu cofnodion unigol ar eich rhan. Gallwch, fodd bynnag, atal anfon data yn y dyfodol trwy wrthod caniatâd. Os oes gennych unrhyw bryderon, cysylltwch â gweithredwr y safle ar yr e-bost ar waelod y dudalen hon, neu gwnewch gwyn i Swyddfa'r Comisiynydd Gwybodaeth (ico.org.uk).
Cadw
Mae analytics cyfun yn cael eu cadw am gyfnod amhenodol i gymharu hanesyddol. Gellir cadw cofnodion unigol (nad ydynt, unwaith eto, yn eich adnabod) am hyd at 12 mis cyn cyfuno a dileu'r rhes amrwd.
